In 1944 the Luftwaffe laUnched its last large scale bombing campaign against England. Soon nicknamed Baby Blitz, Operation Steinbock achieved little results and sustained severe losses. With the small resources available, Oberst Dietrich Peltz did its best to plan and coordinate the bombers, but RAF defences proved to bee too strong. Night fighters, radars and AA fire claimed around 330 bombers in the space of four months.
